Generation of small oil lubricated rotary screw compressors
The GA5-10 series is a design and customer-led range of compressors which incorporates a radical design concept for ease of service and use. All the integral workings and service points of the compressor can be reached simply by opening the front door. It means that the user is able to locate the compressor up against the wall of his factory if he wishes, conserving space, or install the compressor in a confined space.
The GA5-10 compressors set standards in quality and have been designed, developed, manufactured and supplied in strict accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications and also conform to CE directives on quality and safety. In addition, every single compressor is tested according to ISO 1217, Ed. 3, Annex C-1996 test codes so that customers are guaranteed total quality, reliability and performance. The production of the units has been dramatically rationalised, which means short delivery times, no matter where the customer is based.
There are few moving parts which means less wear and less maintenance, adding up to a longer working life and increased cost savings for the customer. In addition, the lifetime of all the consumables housed within the compressor has been extended 400% from 1,000 hours to 4,000 hours.
As a result, routine service intervals are extended, and, when maintenance is required, all the major service points including the air inlet filter, the spin-on/off type oil filter and the oil separator are all easily accessible through the front panel.
Each unit is pre-inspected prior to delivery and filled with oil, so that the customer simply has to plug it in, connect to the air network and start up.
The GA5-10 series is available in either a Standard Pack, a Pack or a Full Feature version. The smallest unit has a capacity of 8.0 l/s (17 cfm); the largest machine in the range delivers 26.6 l/s (56.4 cfm) . All at a choice of four maximum working pressures - 7.5, 8, 10, and 13 bar. The clever design of the new units has led to a reduction in vibrations and improved environmental performance with noise levels at just 66 dB(A) for the smaller machines and
72 dB(A) for the largest units. Furthermore, the whole appearance has been radically altered and the customer is able to see at a glance the quality of the units themselves.
All the compressors are equipped with Atlas Copco’s renowned asymmetric rotary screw elements, which ensure minimal energy transmission loss, and which are driven by a totally enclosed fan cooled IP55 Class F electric motor, offering continuous reliable service, long lifetime and optimum efficiency.
The GA5-10 compressors have a wide range of ex-works optional equipment which can easily be integrated into the compressor including modulating control, electronic drain, lifting device, main power isolator switch etc.
The Full Feature variants have an integrated compact and effective dryer which utilises an environmentally-friendly refrigerant medium, while the specially-designed Atlas Copco oil/water separator (OSD), incorporated on request within the canopy, treats the condensate from the unit, conform to environmental legislation. A highly effective, three-stage oil separation system ensures excellent air quality with oil content lower than 2ppm by weight.
All Full Feature and Pack models incorporate the advanced Atlas Copco “Elektronikon®” control system, which continuously and accurately monitors the status of the compressor and automatically regulates it for economic and efficient operation. The Standard Pack uses electro-pneumatic regulation.
As a new addition to the range, Atlas Copco is offering a Civil Works option which incorporates several sub-options including rain and frost protection (-25°C), main power isolator switch, reverse sense of rotation protection and lifting eye (AIB safety approved).
